SUPPORTING

Two great causes for a better San Marcos

The San Marcos Double Peak Challenge is coordinated by the Friends of San Marcos Parks and Recreation, a non-profit organization that supports the San Marcos Parks & Recreation Department and its programming. The City of San Marcos is also supporting this event along with our partners at the San Marcos Unified School District. The intent of the event is to promote the city, parks, recreation programming, health and wellness as well as The San Marcos Promise for higher education through the San Marcos Unified School District.

san Marcos Promise

The mission of the Friends of San Marcos Parks & Recreation is to advocate for the health and happiness of the community and visitors to San Marcos by enhancing the city’s parks, recreation programs, and facilities. The Friends of San Marcos are dedicated to responsible stewardship with an emphasis on collaboration, reaching out and working to realize shared goals.

The San Marcos Promise focuses on 21st Century work skills and workforce development. TSMP connects education, business, and community leaders to impact student futures. We provide real-world experiences and opportunities, in and out of the classroom, for our students. The Board concluded that redirecting Promise funds into existing programs would allow TSMP to bolster those programs, create new programs, and ultimately provide more meaningful college & career support to a greater number of students in grades K-12.
